Short answer
- There is no player-facing free-key program. You get the game by buying it, pre-ordering it, or winning it in a giveaway run by the studio or a partner brand.
- Giveaways are real, but they live on official and partner-brand accounts — community reposts are leads, not sources.
- Pre-order bonuses are not exclusives: both items are obtainable in-game. For the buy-or-wait decision, see the pre-order guide.
- The sites that rank for "free key" are mostly grey-market, price-comparison, and resale operations. Here is what goes wrong with each.
Is there any such thing as a free key?
No. Phantom Blade Zero ships digitally — PS5 through PlayStation Store, PC through Steam and Epic. There is no official "free key," "invite a friend for a key," or "watch an ad for a key" program; the store pages offer only the standard purchase and pre-order flows. The one thing that legitimately hands out codes is a giveaway.
One exception needs spelling out because it is the most misread: the mainland-China physical collector's box does include a game code — a WeGame Digital Deluxe redemption code, valid on mainland WeGame accounts for the PC version. It is neither a Steam key nor a PlayStation code. The box's full contents and current status are on our physical edition page.
Where giveaways and rewards actually appear
Three tiers, in order of trust:
- Official channels — the official X account (@pbzero_official), and announcements on the Steam and PlayStation store pages.
- Licensed partner brands — hardware collaborations such as GameSir have run Steam CD-key giveaways from their own accounts. Those are genuine, but the organizer is the brand, not the publisher, so eligibility and rules come from that brand's announcement.
- Community reposts (Reddit, Discord, forums) — leads only. Before acting on one, verify it against tiers 1 and 2.
What pre-ordering actually gets you
The pre-order bonus is early access to two things: the accessory Treasure Bowl (a 10% increase to ember drop rate) and the Legacy appearance. The store page states plainly that both can also be obtained through normal progression — they are early unlocks, not pre-order-exclusive collectibles. The Digital Deluxe edition adds two more appearances plus a digital artbook and soundtrack.
We do not repeat the full breakdown here: see the pre-order guide and the pre-order refund and cancellation page.
Why the "free key" search results are not worth touching
When we checked that query on October 18, 2026, the top results were three kinds of site: grey-market resale platforms (G2A and similar), price comparison and aggregation sites (allkeyshop, gg.deals), and "How to Get … Free" content pages. Their shared problems:
- Grey-market keys have unknown provenance. Cheap keys are often bought with stolen cards, region-arbitraged, or resold review copies. When a key is revoked, the game disappears from your account; some listings also carry region locks.
- "Key generators" and "activators" are fake by construction. A key is a string issued by the store's server. No local tool can produce a valid one; what these programs actually deliver is survey walls, subscription traps, or malware.
- Fake support accounts. Direct messages or Discord users posing as official support ask for your password, your 2FA code, or payment in gift cards. Official support never does any of that.
- "Pay shipping to claim a key." A small fee is collected, and then either nothing arrives or your card details do.
Where this site stands
This is an unofficial fan guide. We do not provide keys, run proxy purchases, recommend grey-market sellers, or take key requests (see our contact page). Our only job here is to write down which channels are real and which are traps, so nobody has to guess whether a link is a scam.

FAQ
- Are there free keys? No official free-key program exists; buying, pre-ordering, or winning a giveaway are the only routes.
- Where do giveaways appear? The official X account, the Steam/PlayStation store pages, and licensed partner-brand accounts.
- Are the pre-order bonuses worth buying early for? Both are obtainable in-game, so the bonus alone is a weak reason to buy early.
- Will the collector's box code work for me? It redeems on mainland WeGame only — not Steam, not PlayStation.
