The Current Release Date: October 29, 2026
Phantom Blade Zero launches on October 29, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC. If you are in the United States or another select region, your storefront shows October 28 instead — the PlayStation announcement and the current US Steam listing both use the earlier local date. That is a regional unlock-time difference, not two separate launches, and neither date is an early-access period; both refer to the same release.
The channels that have confirmed the October window are the game's official site and the five storefronts taking pre-orders: PlayStation Store, Steam, Epic Games Store, WeGame, and TapTap PC. Pre-orders went live on August 11, 2026, so the announced release is a same-window PS5 and PC launch, not a PC version trailing behind the console.
Why the Date Moved From September 9
The game made its international debut at the PlayStation Showcase in May 2023, and the September 9, 2026 date was announced at The Game Awards in December 2025. In early June 2026 — six months into that countdown — S-GAME moved the date back 50 days to October 29.
The creative director's letter did not cite a technical failure. It framed the decision as a choice made during final polishing, when the team saw what it called one final opportunity for another meaningful leap forward and chose not to ship while that opportunity was open. The letter named three areas of work for the extra time: further character-model upgrades, reworked environments, and making the game's core look, atmosphere, and intensity land "at full force for as many players as possible" without relying on ray tracing. It also conceded that fifty days could not fix everything, and the statement's own wording implied the character-model and environment upgrades were already underway before the announcement.
September 9 has since come and gone without a launch, which confirms the moved date is the operative one: October 29 is what the official site and the storefront listings show. Older pages, videos, and database entries indexed before the schedule change may still display September 9. For the full documented timeline — how the date was set, what the studio promised, and what has been checked since — see the 50-day delay record.

Platform-by-Platform Timing
| Platform | Timing | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | October 29, 2026 | Shown as October 28 in the US and select regions |
| Steam | October 28, 2026 | US store listing |
| Epic Games Store | October 28 or 29 | Depends on the regional storefront |
| WeGame and TapTap PC | October 29, 2026 | Mainland China |
| Xbox Series X/S and Game Pass | Not announced | Not part of the announced launch lineup |
The Xbox row is worth singling out, because many players asking about the release date are actually asking whether an Xbox version exists. No Xbox Series X/S version or Game Pass arrival has been announced. The launch lineup is PS5 and PC, and the announcement trailer noted at least 12 months of PlayStation console exclusivity; platform details are tracked separately in the Xbox and Game Pass status article.
Unlock Times and Preload
Only the release date has been announced so far. Exact unlock times per platform and preload availability have not been confirmed; storefronts usually list precise times alongside their launch countdowns, and this page will be updated once they appear. Pre-ordering does not by itself reveal an unlock time, and regional storefronts can show different clock hours for the same global release, so the authoritative source is the countdown on your own store page rather than a time quoted for another region.
No publicly downloadable demo has been officially announced so far either — the playable builds shown so far were event and press sessions, and each storefront brings its own countdown online on its own schedule. For why store listings look different from showroom sessions, see how to play the Phantom Blade Zero demo on PS5.
Editions, Price, and Pre-Orders
The digital Standard Edition is priced at US$59.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition at US$69.99 on the US storefronts; mainland China pricing is ¥268 and ¥328. The pre-order bonus — early access to the Treasure Basin accessory and the Legacy outfit, both of which can also be earned in normal progression — and the full storefront-by-storefront edition comparison are covered in the pre-order guide. On the physical side, only a mainland China collector's merchandise package has been announced, with no PS5 disc; see the physical edition explainer.
The delay changed none of this. Pre-orders opened on August 11, after the delay decision, so no one bought under the old date: edition contents, pricing, and platforms all follow the current store pages. If you already pre-ordered, there is nothing to redo — your order simply targets the new date.
