When Do Phantom Blade Zero Reviews Drop? Embargo, Scores, and Where to Watch

No Phantom Blade Zero review embargo time has been announced and Metacritic still lists no critic score. What exists now, and where scores appear first once they do.

Short answer

  • No outlet has published a scored review yet. Everything we could find as of October 18, 2026 is a preview or hands-on impression — no ratings, no verdicts.
  • No embargo time has been announced either. The Metacritic page exists but reads "Critic reviews are not available yet," and neither the official site nor the official X account has published a lift time.
  • What actually exists right now is the preview wave from early October — what those pieces do and do not tell you is collected on our preview roundup page.

The state of play: October 18, 2026

The Metacritic entry is live, but its score area shows "Critic reviews are not available yet" — the page is ready, the reviews are not. Our searches that same day turned up no signed review from any outlet; the indexed coverage is previews, hands-on write-ups, and community threads.

That state is normal rather than suspicious: the game launches October 29, and before an embargo lifts, outlets that have played it are contractually limited to previews. The trap is treating a preview as a review — the same outlets will publish pieces with entirely different weight on the other side of the embargo.

Why the embargo time is not public yet

The publisher sets the embargo — in practice usually one or two days before launch, sometimes on launch day itself, occasionally at a specific hour. That is an industry pattern, not an announcement about this game: as of this page's last update, we could not find an embargo time on any official channel (the official website, the official X account, or the PlayStation and Steam store pages).

So if you see a specific "reviews drop at X o'clock on date Y" claim, check whether it traces back to an official source. We do not relay embargo talk without one.

Where to watch for scores when they land

  1. Metacritic — the score and every individual outlet rating appear there as soon as the embargo lifts.
  2. OpenCritic — the other widely used aggregator; its inclusion rules differ slightly from Metacritic's, so it is worth checking both.
  3. Official channels — the official X account (@pbzero_official) and the Steam store page typically quote reviews shortly after they publish.

Why "score predictions" are not scores

Before an embargo lifts, two things circulate: prediction markets (including markets on the Metacritic score itself) and social-media score guesses. Both reflect expectation, not a review process — nobody has played the finished game under review conditions and signed their name to a verdict. Quote a prediction as if it were a score and the launch-day reality usually embarrasses it.

We record exactly two kinds of numbers: ratings with a named source, and facts we can verify ourselves.

Where this site stands on reviews

This is an unofficial fan guide. We do not write reviews, we do not take review copies or keys, and we do not sell placements — the same thing we say on our contact page. On reviews we do one job: collect attributable sources, dates, and verdicts, and label them. Once the embargo lifts, this page becomes a score roundup that notes where outlets disagree — not our own rating.
