On September 26, 2026, Delta Force — the free-to-play shooter published by Tencent — announced a collaboration with Phantom Blade Zero at its anniversary event, with the official message amounting to "please look forward to it." As of September 30, that is still the entire official record: no items, no gameplay details, no launch window, and no confirmation of which game the content will appear in. This article sorts through what is actually confirmed, what can reasonably be inferred from Phantom Blade Zero's earlier collaboration history, and which questions have no official answer yet.

What was announced — and what wasn't

The announcement itself was minimal. On September 26, the Chinese outlet Gamersky reported that during a Delta Force presentation held as part of its anniversary event, the official team confirmed a collaboration with Phantom Blade Zero, the dark wuxia action game developed by S-GAME's studio Lingyou Fang (灵游坊). The news spread quickly through Chinese gaming media: IT Home picked it up the next day, followed by 17173 and Tencent News, and the outlets that covered it described the announcement in the same terms. A collaboration is happening. That is the whole message. Gamersky itself ran two separate pieces on announcement day — one on the presentation, one on player reaction — and more outlets and aggregators picked the story up over the days that followed. The reporting pace is a small footnote in its own right: a one-line announcement, identical framing everywhere, and no outlet claiming a single additional detail. The occasion itself was Delta Force's "Erzhou Nian" (二洲年) anniversary event — the name is a wordplay marking the game's second year, and Chinese coverage treated the presentation as both an anniversary celebration and the game's roadmap briefing for the seasons ahead.

What was not announced is just as clearly documented. Gamersky's report states explicitly that the officials have not revealed the specifics, including the launch date, the collaboration items, or the format the crossover will take. 17173, writing two days after the event, confirmed the same: neither side has announced the concrete content or timing. In other words, there is no hidden detail to excavate here — every specific question about this collaboration currently has the same official answer, which is none.

One aspect of the current situation is worth spelling out. In all public reporting, the announcement traces back to the Delta Force side of the partnership. Phantom Blade Zero's developer and its publishing brand S-GAME have not, as of September 30, issued a standalone announcement about the collaboration through their own channels. This does not affect the fact that the collaboration is real and officially confirmed, but it does mean that Phantom Blade Zero players looking for official information will find the same single sentence that Delta Force players see.

For readers unfamiliar with one side or the other, some brief context. Delta Force is a free-to-play shooter developed by Team Jade and published by TiMi Studio Group, both part of Tencent. Its Steam version launched on December 4, 2024, and its own store description positions it as an operator-based extraction shooter with full-scale combined-arms warfare, playable across PC and mobile. Phantom Blade Zero, on the other hand, is the kungfupunk action title from Lingyou Fang, scheduled to launch on October 29, 2026 — thirty-three days after the collaboration announcement — on PS5, PS5 Pro, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, WeGame, and TapTap. More on the launch itself is covered in our release date explainer.

The update roadmap from the same event

The anniversary presentation actually contained more concrete planning than the collaboration announcement did, and that planning matters here — not because it is part of the crossover, but because it forms the only available coordinate system for guessing when the collaboration might land. According to Gamersky and 17173, whose accounts match, a new training range arrives in November, the Unreal Engine 5 upgrade is scheduled for the next season, and the team has teased further breakthroughs on the battlefield and gameplay fronts for 2027. 17173 additionally reported that a beta season of a new mode called "Heichao Baopo" (黑潮爆破, roughly "Black Tide Demolition") opened on September 27.

The reasoning is straightforward. Delta Force is a live-service game, and season changes are the skeleton of its update calendar. A November training range and a next-season engine upgrade show that the coming months already have fixed, announced update slots. If collaboration content is going to enter the game, those season nodes are the natural candidate windows — which is why the roadmap is relevant to a collaboration story at all.

The boundary needs equal emphasis: officials have not tied the collaboration to any node on that calendar. "It will probably ship alongside a season update" is an inference from how live-service games normally operate, not an official statement. Until officials say otherwise, any specific date attached to this crossover is speculation. One further parallel sits in plain sight: the engine Delta Force is upgrading to, Unreal Engine 5, is the same engine Phantom Blade Zero is built on, as 17173's report notes — though officials have not put those two facts in the same sentence.

What the collaboration could look like: the Fortnite precedent

Phantom Blade Zero has exactly one in-game collaboration that has actually gone live so far, and it is the single most useful data point for reading this announcement. On September 7, 2026, three items crossed over into Fortnite: an outfit of the protagonist Soul, the Sanguine back bling, and a matching harvesting pickaxe. The items were not sold separately — they were bundled with pre-orders of Phantom Blade Zero on the Epic Games Store, under the official framing of a gift-with-purchase. None of the three ever appeared in Fortnite's item shop: the pre-order bundle was their only distribution channel, which made them a pure purchase incentive rather than separately purchasable content. The full breakdown of how the three items work, and how they differ from the in-game pre-order bonuses, is in our Fortnite collaboration explainer.

That precedent proves something structural: Phantom Blade Zero content can enter another company's free-to-play game, distributed through a commercial tie-in. Which points to two possible directions for the Delta Force crossover.

The first direction is Phantom Blade Zero content appearing inside Delta Force. This mirrors the Fortnite case, and the landing surface already exists. Delta Force is free to play and sustains itself on cosmetic content, so wuxia-styled weapon finishes and character outfits have direct equivalents in its economy. A contributor post on Tencent News noted that commenters were already guessing along exactly these lines — weapon skins, known among players as "刀皮" (blade skins). Worth stressing: those are player discussions, not official information, and nothing in the announcement confirms items, format, or even the direction.

The second direction is Delta Force content appearing inside Phantom Blade Zero. There is no precedent for this. Phantom Blade Zero is a premium single-player action game that has not shipped yet — it arrives October 29 — and no information so far suggests it has set anything aside for crossover content. If the collaboration ends up flowing this way, it will be the first case of its kind for the game.

Context also comes from Phantom Blade Zero's pre-launch collaboration cadence. The GameSir and Flydigi controller collaborations and the Viture XR glasses are peripheral manufacturers building products around the game, covered in our GameSir controller report and Flydigi controller report; the Fortnite crossover was a platform-side pre-order gift. A direct IP-level crossover with another major Chinese live-service game is a new form for this campaign, and the audience overlap between the two player bases is exactly what Chinese media coverage has emphasized — each side exposing the other to players who might not have been counted in its audience before.

Set the Fortnite precedent against this and the commercial contrast sharpens. The Fortnite items were bound to Epic-version pre-orders — functionally an incentive to buy Phantom Blade Zero itself, with the crossover serving the game's own sales. The Delta Force announcement, by comparison, is not bound to any purchase, and neither side has mentioned how the content would be paid for, if at all. As announced, it reads closer to a content exchange between two existing games than to a sales tool for either one.

There is also a channel-level connection worth noting. Phantom Blade Zero's China release channels include WeGame, Tencent's own PC storefront — the same company that publishes Delta Force. The collaboration partner and one of the game's main domestic distribution channels sit inside the same corporate family. No official information ties the crossover to any store-side promotion, but the overlap goes some way toward explaining why this partnership formed around a Tencent game in the first place.

As for promotional value, both Gamersky and 17173 framed their coverage around audience overlap and players outside the single-player bubble — and for a premium single-player title one month from launch, reaching shooter players who don't follow premium releases is worth exposure, plain and simple. Put together, these comparisons still point the same way: "Phantom Blade Zero content inside Delta Force" remains the smoother direction, because both the content and the carrier already exist and only the official word is missing.

What's confirmed vs. what isn't

As of September 30, the state of information around this collaboration fits into a single table:

QuestionCurrent status
Is the collaboration happeningConfirmed (announced September 26, 2026)
Where it was announcedDelta Force's anniversary event ("Erzhou Nian")
Concrete content (items, format)Not announced
Launch timingNot announced
Free or paidNot announced
Anything on the Phantom Blade Zero sideNot announced

For players on either side, there is nothing to action right now: no redemption method, no participation requirement, and no limited-time window has been announced — the only available move is waiting for the next announcement.

The channels to watch from here are already established: Delta Force's official site and community channels publish its season plans, while Phantom Blade Zero news flows through the official website and S-GAME's social accounts. Concretely, two kinds of dates are worth watching: the next Delta Force season announcement (the engine upgrade is already slated for it, so any collaboration news would most likely share the stage), and official Phantom Blade Zero activity around the launch window. Whichever side moves first will start deleting rows from that table — and until then, the reasonable summary of this collaboration is one sentence long: it is definitely happening, and everything else about it is still to be decided.
