Phantom Blade Zero Fortnite Collab: How to Get the Soul Outfit for Free

Pre-purchase Phantom Blade Zero on the Epic Games Store to claim the Soul outfit set in Fortnite, or buy it in the item shop from October 30. What's in it, how to claim it, and what it isn't.

Fortnite now carries a Phantom Blade Zero set: the Soul outfit worn by the game's protagonist, plus a matching back bling and harvesting pickaxe, added to Epic's free-to-play battle royale as official items rendered with the game's own names and descriptions. None of the three can be bought on its own. The set is tied to the pre-purchase of Phantom Blade Zero on the Epic Games Store. On August 12, 2026 — August 11 in North America, where PlayStation Blog confirmed pre-orders were live — S-GAME announced that pre-orders had opened simultaneously on PS5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, and Epic's own announcement confirmed that the pre-order comes with a Fortnite outfit, described officially as a gift-with-purchase.

If you have already decided to buy the game, or you simply play Fortnite, this guide covers four things, in order: where the collab came from, what exactly the set contains, how to claim it on the right account, and why it is not the same thing as — and should not be confused with — Phantom Blade Zero's in-game pre-order bonuses.

Where the collab came from

The timeline is short, but a few points in it matter later, so it is worth walking through in order. The August dates decide when the items exist, the store choice decides who gets them, and the launch date decides how long the window stays open.

In June 2026, media reports listed a batch of upcoming Fortnite collaborations, and Phantom Blade Zero was named among them alongside several other games. At that stage it was an unconfirmed rumor. S-GAME said nothing, and most of the community treated it as wishful thinking.

Around August 6, the story moved forward. The developer confirmed that Phantom Blade Zero had gone gold — development was complete — and announced that pre-orders would open the following week, with a new trailer to mark the occasion. The announcement teased "something unexpected." Media speculation centered on new platforms, a release-date reveal, or a story trailer. Almost nobody guessed Fortnite.

On August 11 and 12, the answer arrived. Pre-orders opened at the same time on PS5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, and S-GAME released an 11-minute gameplay trailer covering story, characters, and combat. One reveal in it answered a long-running question: the man cradling an infant is Mó Yuan, leader of the Bastion of Mó, portrayed through facial and motion capture by Donnie Yen, the internationally known kung fu filmmaker and actor. On August 12, the Phantom Blade Zero set appeared in Fortnite's Chapter 7 Season 3 game data, and Epic's store news headline said it plainly: a "Fortnite gift-with-purchase Outfit." Buy the game, get the outfit.

Coverage of the announcement kept using the phrase "unexpected surprise," and the reason is not hard to see. Premium single-player games usually reward pre-orders with in-game items, costumes, or soundtrack content. Handing the reward to players inside a different, free-to-play battle royale — so that buying an action game unlocks a skin in Fortnite — has no real precedent among Chinese-developed AAA releases, and few equivalents worldwide.

The Soul set: three items

The whole collab lives in a single Fortnite set named Phantom Blade Zero. It contains three items, all added to the game's files on August 12, 2026, with Chapter 7 Season 3 content. For readers new to Fortnite's item system, each entry below also notes what that item type actually does in the game. None of the three affects a match; they are collectibles, carried by their designs and by the game they come from. The renders shown here are Fortnite's official item artwork, so what you see is what equips.

Soul outfit — Epic rarity, the core of the set. The official English description reads: "A framed swordsman caught in intrigue, with only 66 days left to live." The Chinese version says the same thing: a swordsman framed by betrayal, with sixty-six days left to live. The outfit takes its name directly from the game's protagonist, and its description quotes the setup of Phantom Blade Zero's entire story: Soul, betrayed by the organization he served, working through a conspiracy with a countdown on his life. It is the piece most players will mean when they talk about "the Phantom Blade Zero skin."

Sanguine back bling — Rare rarity. Back bling in Fortnite is the cosmetic piece attached to an outfit's back, and it equips alongside whatever outfit is worn, so it can be mixed into lockers that have nothing to do with this collab. The official description: "Forged of mysterious metal, Sanguine strikes with brutal weight and incredible power."

Sanguine pickaxe — Rare rarity, sharing its name and description with the back bling. The harvesting tool is the one item in the set that gets swung in every match, used for smashing trees, structures, and anything else Fortnite players break for materials, so in practice it may end up the most-seen piece of the three.

All three names come straight from Phantom Blade Zero itself: Soul is the protagonist. The Sanguine description emphasizes "mysterious metal" and "brutal weight," but Epic and S-GAME have not explained the naming further or connected it to any specific weapon in the game. If the "66 days" phrasing means nothing to you, the story premise has not landed yet — the background takes five minutes to read, and it explains who Soul is and why the countdown matters.

One note on rarity: in Fortnite, item rarity (Epic, Rare, and so on) is a classification and visual tier. It has no effect on matches. The label is about collectible value, nothing else.

How to claim the set

The core requirement is a single line: pre-purchase Phantom Blade Zero on the Epic Games Store.

Epic's own wording for the outfit is gift-with-purchase — the store's term for a bonus tied to buying one product and delivered in another. The purchase happens on the Epic Games Store and is recorded on your Epic account — and Fortnite runs on Epic accounts on every platform, including consoles and mobile. That produces a conclusion many players will care about: even if you play Fortnite on PlayStation or Switch, the set lands on the same Epic account you play with. Log in and it should be in your locker. Nothing about the process requires playing on PC.

Several details deserve to be spelled out separately:

The grant timing has not been announced. Whether the items arrive the moment you pre-purchase, or together with the game's launch at the end of October, is not stated in the announcement. Epic's past gift-with-purchase promotions have worked both ways. If the items are not in your locker immediately after buying, that alone is not a sign of trouble — check the offer page's terms, and if the fine print points to launch, wait for the launch window.

A second route now exists: the item shop. When this page was last reviewed on September 7, 2026, none of the three items had ever appeared in the Fortnite item shop. That has changed: Epic now lists the Sanguine set — the Soul outfit, back bling, and pickaxe — for the item shop at 1,600 V-Bucks, in a window from October 30 to November 5, 2026 (until 7:00 a.m. on November 6, Beijing time). Buying the game is no longer the only way in: players who skip Phantom Blade Zero can purchase the set directly during that window.

Own the cosmetics first? The purchase converts to V-Bucks. According to Epic's support page, if the Soul outfit or the Sanguine items are already on an account — for example, bought in the shop during the window — a qualifying Phantom Blade Zero purchase on the Epic Games Store grants a one-time 1,600 V-Bucks instead of duplicate cosmetics, matching the outfit's item shop price. Gifting works the same way: the recipient's account receives the cosmetics, or the V-Bucks equivalent if they already own them.

PS5 and Steam pre-orders do not include it. The announced pre-order bonuses on those platforms are in-game Phantom Blade Zero items with no connection to Fortnite. If you want the Soul outfit, the Epic Games Store version is currently the only route.

Region and account details. Phantom Blade Zero is sold on the Epic Games Store with regional pricing, so the account region you buy in determines the price and unlock details. Fortnite, meanwhile, delivers the set to the account you actually play on. It is worth confirming those two accounts are the same before checking out.

One more boundary is worth knowing before checkout: no separate end date has been announced for the pre-order gift itself, but once Phantom Blade Zero launches on October 29, 2026 — October 28 in the US and select regions — anything called a "pre-purchase gift" stops existing as a category. The shop window above then becomes the only announced fallback: after November 5, 2026, no route to the set remains announced. Treat the Epic store page and the offer's terms as the single source of truth for current availability.

Claiming it, step by step

The flow below assumes the common case: one Epic account, used for both the purchase and for Fortnite. Nothing in the process needs anything beyond what Fortnite players already have installed.

  1. First, check which Epic account Fortnite is currently logged into — the account email is visible on the game's settings screen.
  2. Sign into the Epic Games Store (web or launcher) with that same account, open the Phantom Blade Zero store page, choose an edition, and complete the pre-purchase checkout.
  3. The checkout and product pages display this offer's bonus terms; the grant timing and any window limits are governed there, so read them before paying.
  4. Once the items are granted, open Fortnite's Locker: the Soul outfit sits with outfits, the Sanguine back bling with back blings, and the pickaxe with harvesting tools.
  5. If nothing arrives long after checkout, first confirm the order's account email matches the account you play on, then contact Epic player support with the order receipt.

It is not the same as in-game pre-order bonuses

This is the easiest part of the collab to misread, so it gets its own section.

The PS5 pre-order bonuses are an early unlock of the Treasure Basin accessory and the Legacy outfit. The wording matters: PlayStation's official blog states that both items can also be obtained through normal in-game progression after launch. They are not exclusive. Skipping the pre-order does not permanently cost you either one — the real comparison for those items is "early" versus "later," not "have" versus "never."

The Fortnite set is something else entirely — content outside the game. It is not in Phantom Blade Zero's files, it has no effect on gameplay, endings, or any in-game reward, and whether you claim it changes nothing about the game you play. The only link between the two is that both hang on the same action: pre-ordering.

As for which edition to buy and what the price differences include, that is a bigger comparison than this page needs — the pre-order guide covers every edition across PS5, Steam, Epic, WeGame, and TapTap PC. One decision point is worth restating here: if you want both the game and the Soul outfit, the Epic version is the only channel that delivers both. If you play on PS5 or prefer Steam, the pre-order bonuses follow those platforms, and the Fortnite set is simply out of reach for now. That is not a mark against the other platforms; it is just how this particular promotion was scoped.
